Advanced Feature Package¶
Build advanced engineering workflows on top of instant3Dhub’s 3DSpaces. The Advanced Feature Package covers APIs for markups and digital mock-up operations — from annotating and drawing in 3D to inspecting detailed topological structures, making it the next step beyond basic visualization.
With the Advanced Feature Package, you can:
Communicate intent with markups, drawings, and polylines
Guide users to relevant locations using points of interest
Perform precise, multi-entity measurements to support engineering decisions
Inspect inner details using clipping planes, clipping rooms, and capping
Note
Features marked with Experimental are not yet generally available (GA) and may still change.
Markups¶
Drawing¶
Use the DrawingAPI and DrawingPlaneAPI to add freehand markups and sketches onto drawing planes in the 3DSpace:
Sketch directly on configurable drawing planes
Communicate review notes and ideas visually
Combine drawings with annotations for richer context

Markup — annotations and drawings as 3DSpace entities.
Polylines¶
Use the ViewerPolylineAPI to draw polylines as markups or measurement aids along geometry:
Trace paths and contours on the model
Use polylines as visual guides or measurement references
Points of Interest¶
Use the PointOfInterestAPI interface to define and navigate to marked viewpoints and hotspots in the model:
Mark relevant locations within the 3DSpace
Guide users along a sequence of points of interest
Support guided reviews and inspection workflows
Digital Mock-Up¶
Advanced Measurements¶
Use the MeasurementAPI to perform complex measurements across multiple entities and analyze and validate geometric properties and relationships within your 3DSpace:
Evaluate dimensions, distances, and angles across multiple entities
Analyze relationships between faces, edges, and points
Support engineering workflows such as inspection and validation
For single, quick measurements, see Single Measurement.

Clipping¶
Use the ClipPlaneAPI to inspect inner details of complex 3D data by selectively cutting through geometry using clipping planes and volumes:
Define clipping planes by position and orientation directly in the 3DSpace
Derive clipping planes from geometry features such as surfaces, normals, or edges
Combine multiple planes into clipping rooms to isolate volumes of interest
Interactively generate clipping volumes from nodes within the InstanceGraph

Capping¶
Experimental
Use the ClipPlaneAPI to maintain visual continuity and clarity when inspecting clipped geometry by closing open surfaces created by clipping planes:
Automatically generate capping geometry from clipped surfaces
Associate capping surfaces directly with the originating assembly nodes
Preserve spatial orientation and context while inspecting internal structures
Capping geometries are derived from clipping planes and remain tightly coupled to the corresponding nodes in the assembly structure.
